The Ekati Diamond Mine located 300 kilometers north of Yellowknife is the first Canadian diamond mine. The diamond mine is run by BHP Billiton of Australia, the largest mining company in the world. The project referred to as the Office/Dry underground project consists of the following:
Miner Change Facility (40,000 SF)
Underground Offices / Control Rooms (30,000 SF)
Truck Maintenance Shops (30,000 SF)
Concrete Batch Plant (10,000 SF)
Power House (5,000 SF)
With the expansions of the diamond mine underground operations the need for surface support buildings were required to accommodate increased numbers of personnel and equipment.
