The new Energy Centre at Brandon Regional Health Centre was developed to replace an aging power plant, and was the first phase of an extensive hospital redevelopment plan. Existing mechanical and electrical system components, previously distributed at various locations on the hospital site, have now all been centralized and replaced by state-of-the-art systems. The adjacent existing power plant was then totally renovated to house the hospital facility maintenance shops. The challenges of tying into existing buildings and systems, as well as creating new tunnel connections to house major services to suit future redevelopment plans were extensive.
