Airport, Winnipeg, MB
Size: 45,000 SF
Canada Post’s new central mail processing plant consists of 45,000 SF of administration offices and 200,000 SF of mail sorting area. The project was designed to achieve LEED certification and was intended to be a flagship for all future mail processing plants across Canada. The primary design intent for the building was to relate to the new Winnipeg airport design. The architectural style of the building and its interior relies on a harmonious application of various materials such as tyndall stone, stainless steel and glass. The space has an undeniable feeling of strength with the use of masonry combined with a sense of transparency as shown with the extensive use of glazing and glass railing throughout. The interiors focus on neutral backgrounds with bursts of brilliant colour to brighten the space.
